Hi! As forementioned I am a weeby computer science graduate. I made this site in between applying to jobs the summer after I graduated college to help relieve the stress of interviewing. It's been a good outlet to learn more CSS, have fun with the visual and creative side of programming, and write about whatever specific or niche stuff I want. To keep everything as simple as possible I wrote everything for this site by hand myself, directly in the Neocities editor lol.
I'm now working full time as a software developer (yay job hunt succeeded) so I don't have as much time for this site anymore, but will come back once and a while to keep chipping away at it. At the very least I will always come back to update my Perfume page whenever they drop a new album teehee.
When I was in middle school I would go with my friends to the public library across the street almost every day after school to play on the computers. We loved virtual pet sites, and it was on their forums where I first started coding to make profiles, posts and signatures using HTML, CSS, and BBCode. I also started drawing, initially with a mouse and MSPaint or online Oekaki boards, and I even made my own adoptable website at one point using a now-defunct website builder called myvirtualpet or something. It all looked horrible, in fact I recently found this authentic screenshot on my old PhotoBucket account so you can have an idea of what I was working with back then. But, this was my intro to making stuff on the Internet.
Also starting in middle school I was very into cartoons, specifically the most popular 3 at the time: Adventure Time, Steven Universe and Gravity Falls. However, around 2016 Gravity Falls ended, Steven Universe was constantly going on months-long hiatuses, and Adventure Time was no longer holding my attention for whatever reason and so I got bored with cartoons.
However I was still very interested in art and animation, leading me to anime. Glimpses of it on my Tumblr dashboard had me intrigued, and it seemed like there was just so much more of it to explore. I had seen posts about how Steven Universe referenced Sailor Moon, Evangelion and Utena so I started with those 3 so that I could get the references? Definitely not the easiest introduction to anime haha, pretty sure I only followed like 5% of Eva and Utena on my first watch. But I guess they were effective, since I never have stopped watching since. More recently I've also gotten into anime-adjacent stuff like voice actors, and have been looking into Japanese music outside of anime themes.
However I've never really considered myself much of a fandom person. I enjoy some fan content like analysis, discussions and fanart, but not other stuff like fanfic or shipping which dominate some fan spaces. This website is a nice way to engage with media on my own terms (aka word vomitting onto a web page with a target audience of me), in a more relaxed setting away from the craziness of Tumblr or Twitter fandom.
